- Date Key Version 2.04
-
- Date Key 2.0 is an FKEY resource that, when invoked, types the
- current time or date (in a choice of formats) wherever the insertion point
- is in a program or desk accessory you are running. It operates just as if
- you had typed the date or time in yourself.
-
- Version 2.04 is slightly modified to work with Apple's System 4.1.
- Version 3.0, which will contain more options, will be available sometime
- in June, 1987.
-
- Date Key should be installed with Carlos Weber's FKEY Manager, with
- Dreams of the Phoenix's publicly available FKEY installer, or with Apple
- Computer's ResEd. It can be installed with any number from 5 to 9, or zero.
- As supplied, it will be FKEY resource number 6.
-
- The first time you invoke Date Key 2.0, it will present you with a
- configuration screen showing a choice of date or time, and a variety of
- formats for each; it will also ask you to send me money if you like Date
- Key, and give my address. After you choose your preferred format, click
- either the "Okay" button or the "Money Is In The Mail" button. If you click
- "Okay" Date Key 2.0 will use your chosen format for this invocation only. If
- you click "Money Is In The Mail," Date Key 2.0 will save your chosen format
- in a resource (type ' LBJ', ID = -1228) in the System file. Once there is
- such a resource in the System file, Date Key 2.0 will NOT continue to
- present the configuration file each time it is invoked. It will simply type
- in the date or time in the chosen format.
-
- If you want to change the format after you have saved a standard
- format, proceed as follows. Invoke Date Key 2.0 as usual, but do NOT
- release the Command key. While still holding the Command key down, press
- down the Option key. Once the Option key is down, release the Command
- key. You will be presented with the Configuration dialog box and can
- reconfigure Date Key 2.0 as you desire.
-
- Date Key 2.0 takes about 2500 bytes in your System file. If all you
- ever want to do is type in the current date in "standard" format -- that is,
- Month Day, Year -- you will find Date Key 1.0 is a little quicker and quite a
- bit more compact (fewer than 500 bytes).
-
- Date Key 2.0 is shareware. Feel free to copy it and distribute it, free,
- to others. You cannot sell it. If you try it and find it useful, I ask that you
- send $5.00 to me, or $10 if you want a copy of the latest version -- (as
- well as some additional shareware to try out, and some freeware to try
- and use for free if you like) -- on disk.
-
- Multiple Users, Multiple Computers. Registering Date Key
- entitles one person to use it on as many computers as you like, OR allows
- many people to use it on one computer. If you intend that more than
- one person will use it on more than one computer (for example, if
- several people in one office are using it on several different computers),
- you should send me one registration fee for each person who will be using
- the program, or for each computer on which it will be used, whichever is
- less. If you are interested in obtaining a site license for unlimited users
- and computers at one location, please contact me; I'd be happy to negotiate
- equitable terms.
